Trust providers, not just gear providers
The Gilded Stroller closes the trust-affordability gap in baby gear by combining a clinically certified refurbishment process with radical digital transparency — giving Accra's families safe, reliable access to essential gear, without the expensive retail premium or the hygiene anxiety of the informal secondhand market.
Our story
It started in a dark storage corner
The Gilded Stroller was birthed from a close personal story. Our founder, Nadine N. A. Ayine, watched her sister-in-law take a break after having two kids. After investing heavily in high-quality, safe and expensive baby gear, she realised she had only used the items for a short period and had no plan to use them again. Perfectly durable equipment was left sitting in a dark storage corner gathering dust.
On the other hand, Nadine saw parents all across Accra in dire need of this exact equipment to keep their children safe — but priced out by retail inflation and steep import premiums. We built this platform to connect those two realities.
“We realized early on that we aren't just baby gear providers, we are trust providers, and our mission is to make invisible hygiene visible proof.”
The name
Why “Gilded Stroller”?
“Gilded” signals structural and material quality elevation through our strict refurbishment process. “Stroller” anchors our ecosystem firmly in infant mobility and physical developmental hardware. Together: Trusted. Audited. Refurbished. Reloved.
Validation
Grounded in human-centered research
Our model was shaped and validated through a human-centered research path at Ashesi University, under the guidance of Ms. Sihaam Mohammed Sayuti — including customer-discovery work that returned a 10/10 trust score among our target focus groups. We are certified by the Ashesi CaRINE Framework and built on Circular Economy Ghana architecture.
Core values
What guides every decision
Radical Transparency
Every item's history is visible — origin tracking, 180°C steam timestamps, and mechanical audit checklists, surfaced on a public Gear Pedigree portal.
Clinical Safety
The Gilded Standard 180°C thermal steam reset is a non-negotiable prerequisite for deployment.
Sustainable Access
High-quality baby gear should be a structural standard, not a luxury privilege for a few wealthy families.
Community Trust
A trusted parent network subverting the unvetted anonymity of traditional secondhand resale — validated by a 10/10 trust score among our target focus groups.
Circular Responsibility
Mitigating municipal landfill strain by shifting consumer habits from ownership to a high-velocity performance economy.
